Ever wonder which is the most expensive or inexpensive school district in New Jersey?
What is the dollar value of the investment you make in your child's education by paying annual taxes as a home owner in New Jersey?
Every year, the school districts of New Jersey publish annual taxes paid. I looked at the taxes paid along with the relative school district performance. I am measuring school performance using the College-Ready Student Performance (US News).

SDV Index™
I have created an index - the SDV Index - stands for School District Value Index to provide a numerical score of that indicates the value of school district for the annual school district taxes. The higher the SDV Index, the better the return for the dollars invested (annual taxes paid). But sometimes, you need to also look at the school performance - the College Readiness Index (or the College-Ready Student Performance by US News).
The SDV Index uses the following inputs
College-Ready Student Performance (US News):
High school students take AP® and IB exams to earn college credit and demonstrate success at college-level course work. U.S. News calculated a College Readiness Index based on exam participation rates and percentages of students passing at least one exam. The index determined which types of medals (gold, silver or bronze) were awarded to top-performing schools.
